A five-year study of Kachupa that encompasses medical theory, diagnostics, and herbal knowledge, providing an in-depth understanding of ancient practices integrated with modern medical insights.
Four additional years of advanced practical training (Menrampa), leading to a total of nine years of education, which includes clinical practice, pharmacy duties, and the spiritual foundation of Yuthok Nyingthik Ngöndro (preliminary practice), greatly enhancing the students' expertise and providing a holistic education in traditional medicine.
Throughout the nine-year Menrampa degree program, students must fulfill the main practice of a three-month Yuthok Nyingthik retreat, along with practical training in ritual prayers, fostering not only their medical skills but also their spiritual development and connection to deep-rooted traditions.
In 2022, our institute's name was officially changed to Samye Sowa-Rigpa Traditional Institute under the guidance of our esteemed Phakchok Rinpoche. The institute runs its own clinic and produces a variety of traditional medicinal products, with all medicines crafted by the institute itself, ensuring the highest quality and authenticity in our offerings while maintaining a strong commitment to the principles of traditional healing.
